BV Kickstand for Bikes 24" - 29", Spring-Loaded Latch

by BV
$14.99
SKU BV-KA76-BK
Color: Black

The KA76 kickstand is a unique patented design that features a hidden adjustability latch. The spring-loaded latch lifts up, allowing the foot to smoothly glide along with the kickstand and lock into place when the latch is closed. A steel hexagonal bolt prevents the foot from sliding off completely and deters vandals. Adjust the kickstand without any tools, anywhere, anytime. Non-slip sole and wide reinforced plastic foot prevents slipping and sinking in mud. Any angle stance (great for balancing bikes on uneven ground).

  • Easy install and adjustable
  • Fits most lightweight, midweight and cruiser bicycles 24" to 29"
  • Reinforced plastic non slip foot

Bicycle with a mounting plate (Use short bolt)

1. Remove the screw, washer and metal bracket off the top of the kickstand.

2. Place the kickstand underneath the plate, adjust the height by pushing the lever. (To further lock into place. using the Allen key to tighten the flat screw underneath the latch.)

3. Place a screw in the hole to match with the kickstand and tighten by an Allen key or wrench.

A bicycle without mounting plate (Use long bolt)

1. Remove screw, washer and metal bracket.

2. Place the kickstand between the chain stays.

Looks sturdy but does not fit my bike

The stand makes a very sturdy impression. The spring loaded stand looks strong and nicely adjustable.
It its unfortunate that I cannot use it with my Poseidon gravel bike as the cables for the back come right at the end of the chainstay out of the frame and collide with the position of the base plate of the stand.
One item of the stand may need some improvement. The top plate is too short for wider chainstays. The Poseidon chainstay has an inside gap of 1.5" and an outside width of 3". The top plate is too short to go safely over the entire chainstay frame.

Bolt was too short

Update: I wrote to the company about the bolt situation. They said they could not provide a replacement bolt but offered to give me a refund for the expense of buying a longer bolt at my local hardware store. That was nice but I don't see how they can make any money if they have to do that for similar situations. But it did show good customer service, and I stand by my comment that I would buy it again. I did have one observation about the kickstand itself. I found that sometimes the back of my shoe would brush against the retracted foot. I recommended to them that if there is ever a redesign they make it retract just a little more. It may be possible to rotate the mounting plate a little to move the foot out of the way more.

The kickstand came with two different bolts. The short bolt was for bikes with a mounting plate. It required a rather large allen wrench which some reviewers said they did not have. The other bolt was longer to be used with a mounting plate for bikes without their own mounting plate. My bike is a Specialized Rockhopper. The bolt was too short and I had to go to the local Ace hardware store to get a longer bolt. Installation was awkward but eventually it got done. Once on the kickstand seems to work well. The adjustable foot lets it accomodate different size bikes and allows the tilt to be adjusted. I would buy again but I wish it came with a longer bolt.

Sturdy kickstand but blocks pedal

I thought this would be a 5 minute job. It turned out I could not get the screw to fit into the hardware past a couple of turns and had to take it to a bike shop to have it installed. After it was installed, I found out it interferes with my pedal and the two would get stuck so that I had to lift up the rear wheel of my bike in order to turn the pedal and disentangle it from the kickstand. I tried to angle the kickstand so that it is closer to the frame and further from the pedal and that would work for one or two uses before the kickstand would turn back outward and be in the way of the pedal again. I think the hardware needs some rubber for better grip on the frame so that it does not turn clockwise when it is used. As is, no matter how much I tighten it, after 2-3 uses, the plate that holds the kickstand to the frame will turn clockwise just so slightly that the kickstand angles out and gets in the way of my pedal. I have a Trek 3000.

Good Value - Quality Design & Quality at Reasonable Price

I looked at pages of budget kickstands before choosing this for my 700c commuter bike. Normally I would buy a German Hebie, but at more than $50 and backordered everywhere in USA now, I decided to buy a cheaper kickstand for this everyday bike. I chose it because the quality looked OK in photos, few negative reviews and the ratcheting adjustment feature looked good. I was pleasantly surprised that the quality is even better than expected, up to standard of Giant bicycle components (better end of Made in Taiwan) and the length adjustment feature works perfectly . My only complaint is the hex cap screw is Inch (5/16) not Metric, so I had to borrow a tool to install it. Let's see the durability, if poor I will edit this review, but so far so good. German is 3x price but maybe not 3x quality, so I can recommend this as a budget model suitable for everyday bikes. Photos show installed. Notice the height is more than enough for 700c. maybe even fit 29" if chain stays have a bottom bracket. Also note the pedal clearance is good. Easy to install.

Nice look fit and function, needs better lock washer for mounting

This is a great kickstand when solidly mounted and positioned so it’s out of the way of the pedal travel. On a diamondback 29” mountain bike with no kickstand bracket plate it fit well with the provided steel spanning plate and bolt. The only problem was with the included split lock washer that deformed severely when tightened down.

I checked my son’s bike after a week of riding to school and noticed it had loosened due to the washer deformation and was able to pull the stand out by hand and then loosen the bolt by hand. I simply removed the kickstand from the bike for safekeeping until my newly ordered lock washers arrive from Amazon.

As for the product look, function, stability and quality I give five stars. I only take one star away for the lack of good quality lock washer which is absolutely needed for a long term installation. I probably could have used a similar size grade 8 split washer from my SAE kits, but I wanted a reason to buy some metric lock washers to have on hand.
